Facebook Creators Day

Learn about how we brought this idea to life

About the project

Facebook Creator Day brings together top creators to build a sense of community, educate on priority products and provide a platform for important announcements. The essence of the event is to let creators know they are valued in a fun and interactive way. And for the past two years, Manifold has provided an inspiring environment for these high-touch, personalized discovery sessions and workshops to occur.

Manifold created a dynamic live representation of the Creators platform–a collaborative environment that allowed creators to network with one another and with Facebook team leads, to share and learn. The design of the general session stage drew inspiration from the more playful elements of the Facebook Creator brand, using circular shapes and bright colors to reference the varied but connected creator communities present in the room.

The 2nd annual event opened with a whimsical, wind-driven, walk-through experience, which set the tone for the days activities and kicked-off a series of sharable photo opportunities, including a giant sun swing and the “Create Together” mural, which gave creators the opportunity to leave their mark at the event.

The three minute video challenge workshop educated attendees on the ease of creating video content for the platform by teaming them up to ask and answer as many pre-set questions as they could in the allotted time. Three custom video vignettes sets were created for filming, including a midnight canoe ride, an airstream campout and a serene mountain swing. At the end of the day creators were able to take home their challenge videos for sharing across all of their social channels.

Creator Cakes, an experiential workshop, educated attendees on their Creator Studio levels, through a fun color-coded baking activity. The creators collaborated in teams of four to decorate a cake, which was judged Great-British-Bake-Off-style by representatives from Lark Bakery, in Los Angeles. At the end of the session, the winning team took home a coveted Creator Studio kit, filled with tips and tools for maximizing their Facebook Creator experience.

The inaugural Facebook Creator Day brought together 120 creators from all corners of the globe at Smashbox Studios, in Los Angeles. Manifold was asked by Facebook to provide an inspiring environment for high-touch, personalized discovery and workshops, anchored by the debut of the new Facebook For Creators platform.

The all-day event also included deep-dive sessions with product experts who talked about the latest tools and creators had the opportunity to share ideas for future collaborations, swap learnings and test the latest products. Each breakout stage was given a design of its own, selected to reference different Los Angeles neighborhoods, while staying in tune with the bright, pop colors of the event branding. “Venice” featured beachy blues and greens, with midcentury modern furniture and palms, while “Beverly Hills” was fitted out with fuschia graphics, green velvets and topiary.

Shareable photo opportunities included an interactive Facebook reaction wall, an outdoor balloon feature to celebrate the day – and to top it all off, a meet and greet pose moment with furry creator friends Jiffpom and Nala Cat.

The Facebook Fair was unveiled during happy hour, with Facebook staff at custom built demo kiosks, to answer any specific questions and help creators take their platform to the next level.
